Former Cochise College basketball player, Nathan Sobey, has been invited to play with the Utah Jazz (NBA team) this summer.

Sobey played for Cochise from 2010-12. He was an All-America 2011-12 and played 2012-14 at the University of Wyoming.

Sobey quickly moved up through the ranks so he could start his pro career.

He joined the Ballarat Miners of the semi-pro South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), the 2nd-tier level club league in Australia, in 2014.

Later in 2014, he joined the Cairns Taipans of Australia’s top-tier level National Basketball League (NBL). He then moved to an Australian club, the Adelaide 36ers, where he spent the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

In the 2016–17 NBL season, with the 36ers, he averaged 15.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He was named the NBL’s Most Improved Player in 2017. He was also named to the All-NBL Second Team that same season.

He briefly joined the Greek Basket League club PAOK, on loan from the Adelaide 36ers, in March 2017. His contract with the Adelaide 36ers was extended for another 2 years in April 2017.

Sobey got invited to the Utah Jazz’s free agent mini-camp in June 2017. His performance impressed the team’s coaching staff. He then signed to play with the Jazz’s summer league team at the 2017 NBA Summer League.
