Seven Cochise College sophomore basketball players have signed early letters of intent to play for universities next year.
For the men’s basketball team, Dallas Polk-Hilliard has signed with the South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota; O’Shayne Reid signed with Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico and Garrett Jacksons signed with the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
“This is a proud day for Cochise College basketball,” Coach Jerry Carrillo said. “Three of our guys are signing today, and we still have one more, Brandell Evans, who is still taking recruiting visits. He’ll be signing later down the road. We’re really proud of these guys. In the last two years, we’ve won 51 games.”
For the Cochise women’s basketball team, Sophia Elenga signed with Arizona State University; Shannon Powell is headed to the west coast to attend the University of San Francisco; Tatyana McFarland will play for Texas A&M-Kingsville and Ciara Fields will be attending Western New Mexico University.
“I think this says a lot about what all they accomplished here at Cochise,” she said. “They came here, put in a good two years and earned what they got.”
The Apaches have wrapped the 2016-2017 season, and they now look ahead toward spring as each team is currently recruiting for next season.
