Rodeo team performs at home

Cochise College Rodeo performing at the Cochise County Fair

The Cochise College Rodeo had a full crowd for Saturday evening’s short go performance. The men’s team finished first for the second performance in a row, and the ladies finished a solid 3rd in the team standings.

Hayley Dalton-Estes started off the evening with a win in Goat Tying after winning 2nd in the long round with a 7.6 second run and winning the short go after making a run in 7.5 seconds.

Rio Lee won both rounds of Bareback Riding and scored 75 points Saturday night.

Cochise College had two cowboys in the short round of Tie Down Roping. Jake Burwash had a couple of nice runs, placing him 5th in the long round and in the average on two head. Hagen Allen roped and tied his long round calf in 14.6 seconds and bettered his time in the short round to finish 7th in the average.

In Breakaway Roping, Nichole Lake roped both of her calves for duplicate times of 4.6 seconds, good enough to finish 5th in the average.

For Saddle Bronc Riding, Jake Burwash won 2nd in the average on two horses. Jalen Joaquin won the short go performance with a 75 point ride.

Tyrell Hicks and his partner Alexa Smith finished 6th in both rounds and the average of Team Roping. In Bull Riding, Jalen won the long round and the average for the rodeo.

The next performance for the Cochise College rodeo team will take place in Tucumcarie, New Mexico, on October 14 and 15 at Mesalands Community College.
