Women’s basketball is now 5-1 overall

Mesa, AZ — Once again, the Cochise College women’s basketball team was on the road. Cochise won its Wednesday night showdown 66-55. Coulter Bowlen and Sophia Elenga led the scoring assault with 12 points each. Bowlen also had 7 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Elenga cleaned the glass 6 times.

Rauline Martinez wasn’t far behind Bowlen and Elenga, as she had 11 points. Jordyn Penniman and Tatyanna McFarland both had 10 points, with Penninman dishing out 3 assists. Arianna Anderson contributed 6 rebounds for Cochise, who won the rebounding battle over Mesa 32-23 and shot a combined 47% from the field.

“We got down early, but we fought and battled back and got the win. It was a good road win to start conference (play),” said head coach Laura Hughes.
Cochise is now 5-1 overall, with a 1-0 conference record. Up next for Cochise is its home debut vs. Tohono O’odham on Saturday at 5:30PM. Admission to the game is free.
